What I Wasn’t Expecting
The night I squirted for the first time, he wasn’t inside me.
I had been told my whole adult life that squirting was something a man did to a woman during sex — the right angle, the right depth, the right thrust. The right position.
When it actually happened, the position was nothing I had ever read about. He wasn’t using his penis at all.
He was kneeling beside me. My hips were on a pillow. His fingers were doing one specific thing to one specific part of me. And that — not anything happening with his hips — was what unlocked it.
Here is the truth almost no squirting guide on the internet will tell you.
The position that makes a woman squirt is almost never an intercourse position.
It’s a fingering position with a man’s body arranged so his hand has stability, leverage, and time.
Why Squirting Almost Never Happens from Penetration
Squirting comes from sustained, targeted pressure on the urethral sponge — the area on the front wall of the vagina, about one to two inches in. Not deeper. Not deeper.
This is the part that the entire genre gets wrong.
The Skene’s glands sit at the entrance, not in the depths. Deep penetration bypasses them entirely. What activates them is firm, slow, repetitive pressure on the front wall at shallow depth, which a penis is anatomically bad at delivering, because penises don’t curl, don’t apply targeted pressure to a specific square inch, and don’t sustain that pressure for the four-to-six minutes the engorgement process actually needs.
Fingers do all three.
This is why almost every woman who reliably squirts will tell you it happens from fingers, not from penetration. Penetration warms her up.
Fingers close the deal.
The position question, therefore, is not “which intercourse position is best?”
It is: which body arrangement gives his fingers the best chance, while leaving her hips free to do what they need to do?
The Two Requirements
Any position that works for squirting has to do two things at once.
One. His hand has clean, leverage-stable access to her front wall. His wrist isn’t bent at an awkward angle. His fingers can apply firm upward pressure without his arm fatiguing in two minutes. The geometry of his body is set up to let him stay there for ten minutes if needed.
Two. Her hips are free to move and to bear down. Squirting requires the bear-down — the push-out mechanic that releases the Skene’s glands. Any position that pins her hips, traps her pelvis under a body, or restricts her pelvic floor’s ability to push outward is actively working against her.
Almost every position guide on squirting fails at least one of these. Most fail both.
Here are the three that don’t.
Position 1: Her on Her Back, Hips Elevated, You Beside Her
The default. The one to start with.
She lies on her back with a pillow — or two — under her hips. Knees bent. Feet flat or in the air, her choice. You kneel beside her, not between her legs.
This is critical. Beside.
From beside her, your dominant hand reaches across, palm up, into her. Your forearm rests on the bed for stability. Your wrist is straight, not bent. You can apply firm upward pressure to her front wall for as long as it takes, and her hips are completely free to grind into your hand or push out into the bear-down.
This is the position I squirted in for the first time. It is, without exaggeration, the most reliable squirting position I know.
I demonstrate the exact hand position from beside her inside Sizzling Squirting Positions.
Position 2: Her Sitting Upright on the Edge of the Bed, You Kneeling in Front
There is a quiet anatomical reason this one works that nobody talks about.
Her body knows how to bear down most easily when she is upright, hips tilted slightly forward — the posture every human takes when they sit down to use the toilet. This isn’t a coincidence. The pelvic floor’s release mechanic was designed for that orientation.
So: she sits on the edge of the bed. You kneel on the floor between her knees. Your hand goes up and in, palm up, your forearm braced against the mattress or her thigh.
Two bonuses: her clit is exactly at mouth level, and she can lean back on her hands to deepen the bear-down angle whenever she’s ready.
This is the position most likely to produce her first-ever squirt if the back-with-pillow setup hasn’t done it.
Position 3: Her on Top, You on Your Back, Facing You
The wildcard.
She straddles your hips, facing you, but not for penetration. She is seated upright on your lap, your fingers reaching down into her from underneath, your forearm braced against your own stomach for stability.
This position gives her complete control of the angle. She can lean forward, lean back, grind against your hand, lift up, sit down. Her hips have total freedom. She runs the whole show.
Many women who have struggled to squirt in any other position have one in this configuration, because the control variable is finally hers, not yours.
All three positions are walked through, in full, inside Sizzling Squirting Positions.
The Position to Skip (Even Though Every Guide Recommends It)
Doggy. With penetration.
Doggy looks like it should be perfect for squirting — the angle of your penis against her front wall is theoretically optimal, and every g-spot guide on earth recommends it.
In practice, doggy with full penetration fails on both requirements.
Your penis blocks your hand. You can’t reach around with stable leverage while inside her, and even when you can, the angle is fighting itself. And her hips are partially pinned — gravity holds her pelvis in one orientation, and the bear-down mechanic is significantly harder to execute on hands and knees.
Skip it. Or use it for warmup.
Then come out, reposition, and use one of the three above.
One Last Thing
The whole reframe of this article is: squirting positions aren’t really intercourse positions.
Once you accept that, you stop fighting your own anatomy. You stop trying to make your penis do something a finger does ten times better. You give her the body arrangement her body actually needs — and the squirt that has been quietly waiting on the other side of all that wrong technique finally arrives.
Your fingers. Her hips free. Your wrist stable. Her body upright or her hips elevated.
That’s the whole formula.
