The Position I Wasn’t Prepared For
A few years ago a man went down on me while I was standing up.
I want to describe this to you in some detail, because in my entire adult life it has been the most physically destabilising oral experience I have ever had — and it was destabilising in a way that turned out to be the entire point of the position.
We were in the bedroom. He asked me to stand at the foot of the bed. I did.
He knelt on the floor in front of me. He lifted one of my legs, gently, and rested my ankle on his shoulder. My other leg — the one still supporting my weight — was, from that moment, working harder than it had ever worked during any sexual encounter i had been in.
He put his mouth on me.
And within about ninety seconds I understood that I was not going to be able to stand up for very long.
The oral itself was skilled — steady pressure, soft seal, none of the acrobatics — but the position was doing something completely separate from what his tongue was doing. My legs were shaking. My standing leg was cramping. I was holding onto his head not because I wanted to guide him but because if I let go I was going to collapse.
I came, I think, about three minutes in. My legs gave out. He caught me before I hit the floor.
And ever since, I have understood that the position a woman is in when she gets oral matters at least as much as what the man is doing with his tongue.
Why Standing Changes Everything
There are three specific things that happen when a woman gets oral while standing that do not happen in any horizontal position.
One. Gravity is now working in her favour.
In every standard oral position, she is lying down and gravity is pulling her arousal *away* from her clit — the blood is distributed evenly across her horizontal body, the sensation is competing with other neural inputs, and her nervous system is in the calm parasympathetic state that comes with being supine.
Standing reverses all of this. Blood pools toward her lower body. Genital congestion intensifies. Her nervous system is in a mildly elevated arousal state simply from having to hold herself upright. Her clit is receiving neurological input that a horizontal clit does not.
Two. Her physical vulnerability is higher.
Standing during oral requires balance. Balance under sexual stimulation is difficult. Her body is aware, on some level, that she is exposed and unsteady — and that awareness produces a specific arousal register that horizontal safety does not.
Three. The tongue’s angle of approach changes.
In the standard position, his tongue moves downward toward her clit. In the standing position with her leg on his shoulder, his tongue moves *upward* — approaching the clit from beneath, from the perineum side. This is a different neural input pattern entirely.
All three of these compound. The result is an oral experience that is neurologically distinct from any horizontal version of the same act.
I walk you through the exact geometry inside Tongue Twister Position.
How to Set It Up
The position takes about ten seconds to configure.
1. Have her stand. Facing you. Somewhere she can hold onto something if she needs to — a wall, a headboard, a piece of furniture.
2. Kneel in front of her. Face at hip height.
3. Lift one of her legs, gently, and rest her calf or ankle on your shoulder. The specific height depends on your bodies; adjust for her comfort.
4. Her other leg is now supporting her full weight. Warn her, briefly, that this is going to require balance.
5. Put your hands on her ass or her hips, both for support and to hold her against you.
6. Begin.
The position lasts as long as her supporting leg can sustain her weight. For most women, this is three to five minutes — often long enough for a full orgasm, sometimes not. The time constraint is part of what makes the position work.
The Move That Makes This Devastating
There is one small addition to the standing position that makes it substantially more powerful.
Hum while you eat her.
The bone-conducted vibration technique I’ve written about elsewhere — low, steady humming with your mouth sealed on her clit — combines with the standing position to produce an effect neither move produces alone.
The vibration transmits through her clit. Her already-elevated nervous state amplifies it. Her destabilised body cannot fight the sensation the way a settled horizontal body can.
Most women who receive this combination for the first time do not last three minutes.
Every element of the standing-plus-hum combination is demonstrated inside Tongue Twister Position.
Why This Becomes the Position She Asks For
Standing oral is not comfortable. It is not sustainable. It cannot be your default.
It is, instead, the position she asks for on the nights when she wants the encounter to be memorable. When she wants to feel unsteady on purpose. When she wants an orgasm that arrives faster and hits harder than the ones she gets from any other oral configuration.
One of her legs on your shoulder. Her weight on the other. Your mouth approaching from underneath.
That is the whole position. And it is one of the very few genuinely memorable variations on oral available to any couple.
